Palm Haven Tudor

Palm Haven Tudor | San Jose
Completed: 2024-ongoing

This 1927 Tudor in Palm Haven, one of San Jose’s sweetest historic neighborhoods, was already full of good things: original redwood cabinets, trim, doors, glass, and the compact proportions of a house built with care.

Our work was mostly about keeping and refining what was there. The original cabinetry was painted in a high-end emulsion finish; doors and broken glass were repaired; and modern conveniences, including drawer inserts and pull-out trash, were added quietly. Custom lights were made to feel at home with the architecture.

A built-in banquette and custom-sized dining table make the small dining room work harder without feeling crowded, and a new reading nook adds a soft place to land. The house is still very much itself—just a little more comfortable for the next century.
