Japantown Victorian
Completed: 2025
When the owners of this 1890s three-storey Victorian first brought us in, we saw a framework well-worth preserving... original trim, plaster details, and character that deserved respect. We preserved every original trim, commissioning custom plaster molds to extend the design throughout, then opened the entryway into the kitchen from the dining room to borrow a little light into the rest of the house. It was a great success.
The kitchen reads like a library: clean white walls with elaborate trim work frame deep, cool brown cabinetry that reads almost black. We extended those cabinets all the way up the 14-foot ceilings and specified one of the tallest glass doors we've ever ordered, really. Verde Alpi and Carrara marble mosaics in different patterns anchor the bathroom floors while bringing a subtle cohesion throughout. Every material was sourced without compromise.
The result is a home where the couple and their little dog love to spend their time—warm, inviting, and unmistakably theirs.
